Dr Cheng Long Lu

Dr Cheng Long Lu is a Respiratory and Sleep Physician with dual specialist qualifications in Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, and General and Acute Medicine. He is recognised for his expertise in complex respiratory disease, sleep disorders, and advanced pleural and airway procedures.

Dr Lu graduated from the University of Melbourne and completed advanced physician training across several major tertiary hospitals, including Royal Melbourne Hospital, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and Royal Perth Hospital. He holds Fellowships in both Respiratory and Sleep Medicine and General and Acute Medicine.
He is currently Head of Respiratory Medicine at Joondalup Health Campus and also consults at The Mount Hospital, St John of God Subiaco Hospital, and Royal Perth Hospital.
Dr Lu has a particular interest in complex respiratory conditions, obstructive sleep apnoea, chronic cough, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pleural disease, and diagnostic respiratory medicine. His procedural expertise includes endobronchial ultrasound, pleural interventions, and tunneled pleural and ascitic drain insertion.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr Lu is a regular speaker at medical education events and is well known for delivering practical, clinically relevant education on respiratory and sleep medicine topics to general practitioners and healthcare professionals.
Known for his approachable manner and clear communication style, Dr Lu focuses on delivering evidence-based, patient-centred care with an emphasis on accurate diagnosis, collaborative decision-making, and long-term management strategies tailored to each patient.
